Six shorter terms are the proposals for the new school academic year in England and Wales.

In France, schools children will continue to get a two-week winter holiday in February / March, followed by a two week spring holiday in April. To prevent resort overcrowding, these holidays are taken at different times between French regions.

In Belgium, there is a spring break in April of about 10 days.

In Germany, each state has different school holiday dates to avoid holiday congestion.
